UNSTEALS
FAQ.
Am I allowed to follow you if I'm a personal or fan account? Simply put, yes! I have absolutely no problem being followed by personal and fan accounts. I'm thrilled you enjoy my writing enough to want to read it regularly. That being said, PLEASE DO NOT INTERACT WITH MY POSTS. Don't like them, don't reply to them, don't reblog them. This goes for reblogged posts as well. I will block you if you break this rule. It clogs my notifications and makes it impossible to run my blog.Do you write with non mutuals? For the most part, no. Here's how it works. I accept unprompted asks and things from prompts that I reblog, as long as the tags don't specify otherwise, from non mutuals. I do not and will not enable anon, but if you include a wish to have the ask answered anonymously in the ask itself, I will respond to it anonymously & link you to the response. Otherwise interacting with my posts will get you soft blocked once, and hard blocked if you refollow and repeat.Do you have a DNI (Do Not Interact) list? Yes and no. Usually, this means, "Are there any specific people in the RPC that, should I interact with them on my blog, you will not follow me because of?" The answer to this question is, not really. I'm unable to keep up with this kind of thing, and I'm uninterested in throwing names around. If someone is dangerous and I'm alerted to it, I take the necessary steps, but I do so privately. If I have personal issues with someone, I deal with it privately. I have a tagging blacklist that is able to keep my dash safe for me. However, if what you're asking is, "What are the conditions under which you won't follow my blog no matter what?" then there will be a handy little list in my rules for you to check! Can I use your headcanons? I think there's a difference between thinking a headcanon makes so much sense it gets incorporated into your own headcanons, and straight up stealing headcanons. Please just tell me if you'd like to adopt one of my headcanons! Almost every time, I'll probably tell you it's fine, but you have to let me know first. If I see you just straight up reposting my headcanons without ever getting in touch with me, I will assume malicious intent. I've had problems with people swiping things I've worked really hard on in the past; I don't want that to happen again. What should I do with this massively cursed artifact I found? Put that thing back where it came from or so help me. If it's only a massively cursed object, message me for advice.
RULES
SELECTIVITY.
I am selective about my writing partners. This is a hobby for me, and one I'm incredibly passionate about. It's the last place that I want to feel overwhelmed and disorganized. I like to keep a tidy, active dash to help keep me functioning on this blog. This means I'm simply unable to follow everyone back. It's nothing personal. More than likely it'll be because I don't feel like our writing styles click, I can't see a way for our characters to interact, or I'm simply uncomfortable with some of the themes on your blog. I also do not follow blogs without a rules page, an about page (flexible with canon muses), or a tagging system of some kind. I am crossover, duplicate, and OC friendly! Extremely so! My only stipulation is that OC children of Layla are something I'd need to discuss first.
UNFOLLOWING.
I reserve the right to break a mutual follow at any time. My go-to method is soft blocking, but if your rules specify that you would like me to go another route, I will respect that. Refollowing once is understandable, but if you see you've been soft blocked again and refollow a second time, I will hard block. I unfollow blogs that have been inactive for a period of time without notice but if you return & still want to write, you are welcome to refollow me! I keep track of which blogs I've followed due to inactivity, and am completely willing to reinstate the mutual follow. If you want or need to break our mutual for any reason, you may do so via any method you feel comfortable with. You do not need to explain anything. It will not be taken personally.
WRITING STYLE.
I like to write using a mix of small and regular font, static icons, and light formatting. I use extra spacing to differentiate easier between font sizes. If any part of my formatting is inaccessible to you, please get in touch; I will happily alter it for you. There's no need to match my formatting! I am para preferred, and enjoy multi para threads (though they take me a lot longer to respond to). I may occasionally post one-liners but they will inevitably evolve into something longer. There's no need to match my length either, and that goes both ways - write less, write more, it doesn't matter as long as I've got enough to reply to.
SHIPPING.
I am an extremely chemistry based shipper! If I don't vibe with it, I simply can't get invested in it - and I love getting invested in ships. Sometimes chemistry develops over time, so it's always something I'm willing to revisit. I portray Layla as bisexual with no strong preference in either direction. I do not assume a romantic relationship with Marc Spector / Steven Grant / Jake Lockley. I like to touch base with the writer about it first. Mutuals I've interacted with before are welcome to send in shippy prompts to test the waters for a ship. Unless stated otherwise, my default ship is with @giftshopped's Marc Spector and Steven Grant.
TAGGING.
Potentially distressing content is tagged as EXAMPLE // or EXAMPLE M // as applicable. Explicit sexual content is tagged as CITRUS // ( or SUGGESTIVE // in case it's tame or only referenced ). Other tags you might want to be aware of are EYE STRAIN // , FLASHING // , LONG POST // , and ASK TO TAG // . No matter what, please let me know if there's ever any subjects you need tagged or posts I've missed a tag on. Until the end of May I will be tagging major plot points with MOON KNIGHT SPOIILERS //. I will not be posting MoM spoilers. Please tag all mentions of sexual assault, animal death, and body horror. Thank you!
DNI.
I do not write with: genderbent muses, whitewashed faceclaims, deceased faceclaims, Harry Potter muses*, smut-centric blogs, blogs with heavy & frequent themes of torture or sexual assault, and writers under the age of 18. Whether they be because of my values or personal comfort, I ask that these decisions be respected.
* If you are a multi muse blog with HP muses, I am willing to write with your other muses. I just ask that you do have tags on your HP-referenced content (it doesn't need to be a content warning, their name will be fine for my blacklist).
ETIQUETTE.
Basic RP practices are expected: no power playing, no godmodding, etc. I do not expect any forms of reblog karma. Mutuals are welcome to reblog posts directly from me as opposed to the source, and they are also welcome to reblog prompts without sending them in. If your rules specify otherwise, I will respect that, and usually reblog from the source by default anyways as it's the more common practice. Vague blogging makes me incredibly uncomfortable and I will break a mutual following if it makes an impact on my dash.
INTERACTIONS.
The best way for mutuals to start interacting with me is to send prompts to the ask box, or to like my starter / inbox calls. You're welcome to start doing this the very second we become mutuals! You are also free to continue any answered ask, but know there is a small chance I won't keep it as a thread. I may unexpectedly drop threads as my muse fluctuates. This never means I don't want to write with you; we should start something new! If you're looking for my verses, I'm still building a page but I have notes available if you message me.Non mutuals are, as stated in my FAQ, completely able to interact with me via my ask box. Please be aware that I may choose not to respond to something. Harassment over this will result in you being blocked. Please do NOT send shippy, romantic, or explicit things if we are not mutuals.
CONTENT.
Mature themes may be present on this blog. This is the reason I don't write with minors. Your age or definite age range must be present on your blog. Common themes include death, violence, alcohol and drug usage, medical procedures, mental health, religious discussions, and sex. If these are uncomfortable for you, this blog might not be a fit for you. I may choose to write smut with writers I'm comfortable with that are over the age of 20. These threads will be placed under a "read more" and appropriately tagged. I do not reblog explicit images.
OOC.
Hello! You can call me Saber. I've previously been known as Sylveon, Corvus, and Puffin. I've been roleplaying on Tumblr on & off since 2011. I prefer she / they pronouns. I'm 25 years old. I live in Florida and operate on EST. I'm in an IRL committed relationship with Becky at @giftshopped and she features frequently on the blog. I am an archaeology student ( though my specialty is not Egypt) and I enjoy exploring that facet of Layla. Discord is currently being given out to friends & frequent plotters.
CREDITS.
My RP icons use the PSD "Honey" by venuscommissions. My answered banner uses the same PSD and the template "Este" by apocalypseresources. My header, dash icon, & the stills on this Carrd were made for me by @khonschu.
Layla is canonically Egyptian, and actress May Calamawy is Egyptian & Palestinian. I am not! I am working very hard to stay informed and be accurate, sensitive, and respectful in my portrayal, but I may make mistakes. Please do not hesitate to correct me! I am always open to learning and becoming better.
Thank you!

LAYLA EL-FAOULY,
THE FRIENDLY TYPE
HEADCANONS
001. Layla is, first and foremost, an archaeologist, just like her father. She has a degree, a master’s, and she’s very proud of that education. Though her specialty is Egyptology, she has a grasp on several other ancient civilizations, and can adapt her work to include them as necessary. She poses as an antiquities dealer and, considering she does occasionally sell the artifacts she obtains, could even loosely be considered one. Her work “stealing” antiquities in the black market trade is extremely important to her.
003. Layla exists in a very odd space, religiously. We’re told in episode 4 that her Father, according to Harrow, believed that the ancient Egyptian gods were real. I believe this is a conclusion that he drew for himself after years of research and work in the field of Egyptology, but that his family is likely Muslim. I believe Layla’s mother would likely also have been Muslim. Layla was not raised in a strict or traditional manner, benefitting from her father’s open mind and her family’s cosmopolitan lifestyle. She might consider herself agnostic if she ever sat down and thought about it, but I don’t think she does think about it very much. Her speech and habits may still be informed by her Muslim upbringing, and her life in Egypt.
000. Further headcanons & notes on my portrayal may be added at any time. My portrayal is fairly canon compliant, I think, which is easy since there's not a whole lot of detail canonically confirmed about Layla. In the meantime, you can poke around in my verses!
002. We have no mention of Layla's family ( outside her father ) but I’ve created some loose headcanons about her immediate and extended family. These are subject to change depending on the content of the remaining episodes. Layla’s mother passed when she was quite young, and she has few memories of her. Her father, Abdallah El-Faouly, did his best for her. He had the support of his extended family, but still chose to take an incredibly active role in parenting Layla. This is one of the reasons he doted on her so much, and why she was brought along to his digs even as a young child. Layla’s father was murdered ten years ago, almost eleven. She technically left Cairo very shortly after to attend college, but she returned both during this period and after this period ( for a time ). She still thinks of her extended family but getting in touch with them can be difficult.
004. You’ll notice that Layla presents herself to the world as someone that is tough, confident, and ( mostly ) controlled. This doesn’t mean this is genuinely how she feels on the inside. Womanhood in Egypt can be difficult and traumatizing. She has been harassed, she has been policed, she has felt the gaze of the city on her at all times - whether or not she’ll admit to it, this is one of the reasons she ended up leaving Cairo for good after the death of her father. Without his presence in her life, she had far less protection; this is also why she’s as capable of defending herself as she is. Openly and publicly expressing anger is not common in Egyptian culture, and Layla tries very hard to embody this. She’s always felt that the ability to put a lid on her most intense and raw impulses, emotions, and actions is very important… and when she’s unable to do so, that is a testament to the depth of whatever she’s experiencing in that moment.
